Role: The Technical Director serves the church by maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting Audio/Video/Lighting systems used for various ministries at Coastal. He partners with the staff and volunteers of the church to ensure all technical equipment is functioning properly and used in accordance with best practices. He directs and trains Production Team volunteers on how to best use the equipment to enhance the services and reduce distractions.
My Story: I am fortunate to have grown up in a Christ-centered family with two God-fearing parents. I heard a lot about Jesus from a young age, and I was baptized in 4th grade because that's what I was “supposed to do”. I didn't fully come to know Him until my 6th grade year when I attended a Michael Gott revival at church. I accepted Jesus and renewed my commitment to Him, and was baptized a second time to symbolize my new life in Christ.
I have been volunteering on church tech teams since 2003, when I began volunteering at Thalia Lynn Baptist Church in the area of media and video. Over the course of a few years, I expanded my knowledge to the areas of lighting, video, and sound engineering.
In 2008, I began to volunteer on the tech team at the former FUSE young adult worship venue at Coastal. In 2010, I began studying Information Systems Technology at Regent University. In 2010, I also started an 18-month Water's Edge internship program at Coastal, focusing on Coastal Kid's ministry and Creative Arts. I took on responsibilities of a volunteer Technical Director at Coastal in June, 2010 and held that volunteer position until it became a staff position in 2015.
I enjoy music, technology, baseball (Go Cardinals!), and the beach.
