Our desire is to teach the Bible in a contemporary manner suited for each age group, helping people commit their lives to Christ, and grow in a community.
As the Minister of Life Development I enjoy overseeing the spiritual formation of those attending Coastal. Developing preschool and elementary age programs brings laughter to my heart. Planning and teaching adult spiritual formation classes gives me the opportunity to encourage individuals in all stages of their walk with God. Our Life Groups, small groups of people meeting to study and be encouraged, play a key part in ones’ spiritual growth. My husband Lonnie and I have been married 30 years. We have the privilege of living in the same city as our son and his wife, James and Kelsey. We love having Kelsey as part of our family. She truly is the wife we have prayed for James. We also have the joy of being Mom and Dad to Michael (age 23) and our daughter Rebecca (age 21).. I believe Christ-centered families are healthy families. It is our responsibility as parents to raise our children to know Christ and to show them God’s plan for families and their individual life. We are discovering the privilege of walking alongside our young adult children, encouraging them to discover God’s unique plan for their lives, and seeing God’s purpose for them unfold before us.
I would categorize myself as a life-long learner. My undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech and teaching experience with Virginia Beach Public Schools prepared me to attend seminary and serve the Lord as a full time minister. By God’s grace I graduated from Regent University with a Doctor of Education Degree in 2009. The Ed.D. is in the area of adult education and staff development. My goal is to equip others so that they can experience the joy of ministering in the Lord’s name. On a very personal note I find family humor when my children refer to me as “Dr. Mom.”
