Leading a Life Group is among the most exciting and meaningful things you can do as a follower of Jesus Christ.  Building relationships with others, caring for each other, challenging each other to group and sharing the love of Jesus Christ are what being followers of Jesus is all about.  We (the Coastal Ministry Staff) are fully committed to helping you be successful as you pray about taking this step in your own spiritual journey. I value living in a way that brings glory to God and is a light in a dark world. I commit to doing my best to model a Christ-like life. As a leader, I am held to a higher standard and may have to forgo certain activities to provide the example needed for my life group members. Included in this effort, I will not permit behaviors or practices during official Life Group activities that may confuse or frustrate those who may struggle with problems in living related to addictions, obsessions and other life difficulties (i.e. drinking of alcoholic beverages, use of illegal drugs, and participation in adult entertainment).

I value my relationship with God as the most important relationship in my life. I understand introducing others to God is one of the most important tasks I can accomplish. I will commit to striving for and being held accountable to the commands found in Matthew 28:19-20 (“Go, therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.”)

I value continual personal growth as a follower of Jesus Christ. I commit to building a relationship with a Life Group Coach who can encourage me and give me resources as I grow as a follower of Jesus and a leader of others (i.e. talking one-on-one once a month). I also commit to participating in leadership development events, as much as possible, for Life Group Leaders (i.e. Quarterly Life Group Breakfasts).

I value the unity of the family of God as important to fulfilling our mission. I commit to support the mission of Coastal Community Church, “To Make More and Better Followers of Christ”. I commit to supporting the goals and leadership of Coastal Community Church. In the event that there is discord within, between, or about any fellow leader, I will attempt to resolve the issue directly with the individual. If this is not effective or if circumstances make this unadvisable, I will seek counsel from another minister who may serve as a mediator. I will encourage other with concerns to address issues this same way. I will carefully consider my motives in sharing information about my concerns. I will use good judgment, prayer and discernment about with whom I will share any information. I will make every effort to prevent from having the situation dissolve into harmful and negative gossip.

I value developing ministry leaders, just as Christ did with his disciples. I commit to working to identify leadership characteristics within the membership of my group, and working to develop the fulfillment of the call of God on their lives in whatever ministry they are called to lead. In the event that God is calling a member to life group leadership, I commit to work with that member as a life group apprentice mentor to develop knowledge, skills and abilities within the apprentice leader that will enable him or her to be successful in the leadership of a Life Group.

I value birthing new groups as a powerful method for developing leaders and reaching new people for Christ. I commit to actively pursue opportunities to birth new Life Groups and other ministries from my group.
