Great question, we get asked this often. The most common view is that gross earnings are the amount of God's provision, and the tithe should be based on 10% of God's provision. Taxes are generally considered payment for the privileges and services provided by the government. Though scripture doesn't use the term "net" or "gross," it's important to note that the spirit in which we give is of greatest value to God. He tells us in II Corinthians 9, "each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give; not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."
Giving 10% of your income to your church can be a big commitment! However, because God tells us to honor Him with our first fruits, we must learn to trust that He is faithful to provide. God wants us to trust Him. Seek His guidance in how much you should give, and He will honor your faithfulness and obedience.

Many people utilize them in place of checks or cash and simply pay off the balance in full at the end of each month. For these people, we offer the option of using a credit or debit card to tithe.

Cash contributions must be received or postmarked by December 31 to be included on your giving statement for that year. Online transaction must be initiated by December 31. Where do my donations to Coastal go? General Operating Fund: Donations to Coastal Community Church support its General Operating Fund. This fund makes possible the day-to-day ministries and services of the church. Special funds: Periodically, opportunities to designate a donation to a specific ministry initiative become available. The Benevolence Fund is an example of a ministry-initiative fund. An example of a Church initiated fund with specific start and end dates would be the Our Journey Fund. To designate your contribution to a specific fund, simply indicate the name of the initiative (e.g., Benevolence) on the memo line of your check or on your envelope.
Yes, you will receive a quarterly statement of contribution for all donations for which you provided your name and address (cash contributions may be placed in an envelope with your name and address). All donations made to Coastal Community Church are held in the strictest confidence. Statements of contributions are mailed in January (for the prior calendar year). Interim statements are mailed after six and nine months of activity in order to provide updates to individual donors. If you have moved recently, please sign into your My Coastal account and note the change, so we may send your statement of contribution to the correct address.
